To China With Love

Dear, “all-weather friend” China,
We celebrated 2011 as a year of friendship to mark 60 years of diplomatic relations. I am pleased to write a letter about the unconditional love of two mutual countries. The history of mutual understanding is a testimony of respect and love for one another, this comradery can be explained by famous maxim as, “higher than mountains, deeper than the oceans, and of late, sweeter than honey”.
Kafka has said that Writing a letter is talking with the person's ghost, it’s an art to depict what exists between individuals, or countries. The very idea to write a letter to a country we are very familiar from very birth is of great enthusiasm.

I was familiar with the word ‘China’ in my childhood, but later my first visit to Lahore in 2014 has offered me a couple of meetings with Chinese. The first time I met a couple in a market, they were about to go somewhere. They asked me an address, I did explain about it, added about the scope of the place. Although they were not fluent in English,, have understanding, this was one of the opportunities for me to know about them in general, and China in particular. The place they were interested in is Old Lahore, I explained that Old Lahore has its charm and flavour in taste, sophistication, art and purity. We talked for a while; their interest in Places of Pakistan has a clear idea and helped me out to remove one of the misconceptions about Chinese. I heard from my cousin who visited China, told me that, Chinese people have no interest in nature, though; they used to visit picturesque places, yet have no aesthetics. But, my personal experience has changed such rumours about China and Chinese people. When we search on YouTube, ‘what Chinese think about Pakistani?’ most of the Chinese say, “Pakistanis are hospitable, and suffice friendly”. Same feelings rest of Chinese and Pakistani have for one another.  The second encounter, I attended a Chinese agriculture show in expo centre Lahore. It was sponsored by the Chamber of commerce with corroboration with the Chinese business community. I was amazed to observe, first of all, seeing the advancement in technology in the display, in visiting different stalls; I was briefed by the intention of China for agricultural development in Pakistan. This did amaze me for the second time about lovely plans of china for Pakistan.

Love for china is in every individual's mind, as a Pakistani, our political leadership has recognized The people the Republic of China for the very first time in 1951, mutual relations between Karachi and China have started to establish with people to people connections. This is adding love for China, as patriotic Pakistani. When we are in the cataclysmic state or beleaguer one, Chinese representatives do stand along with our leadership and armed forces. This was observed as Pakistan-China entente cordial, when Pak-Indo belligerency has heated up in the early 1960s.

Sino-Pakistan relations have been cordial in history, much like this, we are vehemently attached with Chinese people. By changing the world order, Pakistan-China should have ways to connect through literary, creative, educational, and physical activities to forge a strong bond.

Being a native of Gilgit-Baltistan, we are thankful for Chinese assistances in many cases, we received two trucks in the aftermath of Attabad Disaster in 2010, and for reconstructing Karakoram Highway (KKH) for business, strategic and inter-state relations. Our friendship has started to flourish and diverse in 1982 in connecting with Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous the region with Islamabad.

The friendship will remain a milestone in future.
Thanks
