Reflections On Suicide

Suicide is one of the 14th main causes of death, yet the objective rationale is not scientifically proven. As to how suicide leads to complete death. There are various conceptions of death, and suicide is one of them; still, there is room to discuss the factors before and after the phenomenon, which is so far one of the most painful events in human history. The extensive literature on suicide and death is never deciphered in a concise way that could lead us to believe a definite thing. This seems to be one of the reasons behind the exploration of knowledge and science.

Suicide is defined mainly as 'intentional self-killing '; the misery is that the truth dies with the complete attempt. The theories of psychology and sociology do not scientifically explain the mystery of suicide and death. The theories attempt to treat those who have psychological disorders, suicidal behavior, and suicidal ideation. As 90% of those who die by suicide have psychiatric disorders, yet the treatment is always in the very initial stages. It seems the academic knowledge or episteme has failed to cope with suicide as scientific exploration. The suicidal tendency, intent, and ideation are discussed in the purview of suicidal thought. Yet, the suicidal thought disappears with the dead/death, hence becomes the deepest mystery ever to discuss at any degree of rationality.

Never debating the reason for suicide seems an escape in the womb of death, but it might be possible that death interrupts as an error in consequence of suicidal thought/other various factors.

Ontologically, suicidal ideation and behavior seem an incessant process of the mind, loosely related to the sole purpose of death while attempting suicide.

These are possible reasons that the science of death is more than just an investigation when viewed through varying lenses. Whether by suicide or any means, death is defined as

"a cessation of heartbeat and shutting off the brain".

The stage between death and being unconscious is a mystery that has never been explained. The mystery of death is being discussed in different schools of thought.
Tibetan thought is more fearful towards death, focused on after death and pre-birth moment.
This views death as a realm of unconsciousness that exists even before it occurs. It argues while commenting on what actually happens during and after death as,
“All we have died many deaths before came into this incarnation. And what we call birth is merely the reverse side of death, like one of the two sides of a coin, or like a door which we call ‘entrance’ from outside and ‘exit’ from inside a room”.

In considering such ideas, the concept of death seems a meaningful event, enriching the void of spiritual unemployment with a sense of high hope and cosmic energy.

Judeo-Christian and other religions believe in the afterlife, with the soul transcending to somewhere. The refuge in such varying concepts works at a high degree of fear. Those who are neither happy nor sad, but live in the state of silence without a certain degree of satisfaction, might not be influenced by any belief.

They think of death as a part of an evolutionary process, never occurring to anyone living. It is an idea in mind explaining its own, difficult to get ridiculed or influenced at any degree, rather is consolidated, affirmed and uttered thought. Death thus occurs in no-consciousness (nothingness) and bodily cessation. The phenomena of death hence become,
the no-state of something inside and outside the mind, yet the realm of death (nothingness) is visited by no one alive, while some may returned after slowing down of heartbeat. They come-up with/through subjective experiences, with subjective interpretations.

Thus, the science of death (state of nothingness) is hardly defined; the mind could never exactly locate and argue substantial wisdom.

The mystery of death is not easily comparable with reason or any action. Rather, the rationale exists in pure thought, depending on the reliability of the knowledge embodied in action.

Notes: The consciousness before and after death is not an objective experience. The existence of life makes existence a consciousness, yet the latter part of the debate about whether consciousness exists before birth and death is investigatory research.

The subject matter of death as an ambiguous one loosely justifies suicidal thought meant for the sole purpose of eternal escape. Rather, has the certitude of deepening experience of the mind. The mind involves a continuous process of ‘becoming’, relying on existential movement. The suicidal thought exists in-between the territorialized and the deterritorialized realm of the mind, stemming apparently from ideation of suicide.

Thus, every third suicidal attempt results in death; every two do not. Death results in both cases, whether by suicidal attempt or not, but death other than suicidal is just an escape from life, though suicidal death is a thought process that results in varying phenomena. As P.W Zapffe says,
“When a human being takes his life in depression, this is a natural death of spiritual causes”.
Such death happens by circumstances on which thoughts unbearably decide to put an end to life. Thus, death occurs inevitably, taking refuge in the realm of consciousness. Sleeping for a long period is also a refuge for experiencing consciousness. Sleep, like half-death, acts in a psychedelic way, experiencing a realm of consciousness; not everyone can deconstruct the new structures of knowledge from previous/existing ideas.

Thus, a suicidal thought of death makes sense; the thought of death and the idea to reject suicide disappear, and rational thought remains at the other horizon of the mind.

This makes him/her take life; the decision of thought apparently and abruptly changes the body temperature, and a wave of energy runs from the head to the lower body.

I have been suicidal many times; in a couple of days, suicidal thoughts with the certitude of energies amazed my perspectives and forms of thoughts. The idea of death is dependent on such varying factors. But, the death is independent to cosmos of mind, which is a process of continuity, flows dimensionless within and without source, thus acts as immanence. Hence, suicidal thought as the sole rationale for death seems a vague justification.

The misapprehension to debase suicidal thought in a manner lacks meaning to save suicidal ideation. I’m a survivor of suicidal thought because I did not reach into the territory of that state of in-between no-consciousness and pure thought; the causal effects of the realm have vaguely influenced rationality and jumped into silence. I don’t say it would never visit me again, but when it visits, I would not be able to ask a psychologist or physician for assistance by asking, “Sir, I have 5 minutes to leave this world; would you save me from death. If I could ask, and know a problem, they could never play the game of mystery perplexing the fabric of the family.

The writing is not meant for bringing happiness or misery, rather an attempt to discuss objective knowledge in accordance with the philosophy of mind.
